It was a fun-filled weekend for lovers of music as MAVIN act, Johnny Drille, serenaded his fans with melodious tunes at the second edition of his concert, tagged ‘Johnny’s Room’. The event which held at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos on Sunday evening also featured performances by artistes like Adekunle Gold, Di’ja, Niniola and Ric Hassini.
The show which kicked off by 7 pm, featured thrilling performances from different musical acts including the winners of the Enter Johnny’s Room challenge, Sydney, Tega, and Cillasoul who were the opening acts of the night.
Johnny offered a spectacular entrance by levitating to the stage, making his fans, mostly ladies, scream on top of their voices. The singer started with his song ‘Shine’ which his fans also sang along with him. The alternative-rock singer later performed some of his songs as well as some of his role models, American rapper and singer, Jon Bellion. The performances from Johnny Drille, whose ‘Finding Efe’ recently won the Headies award for the Best Alternative song, sent fans haywire, as they demanded for more.
After singing a few of his songs, Mavin-signed singer, Di’ja, joined Johnny on the stage as they performed together. The pregnant diva and Johnny also performed an unreleased song. Other performing acts with Johnny were Ric Hassini, Adekunle Gold and Niniola. The night saw Johnny introducing his parents and siblings present at the concert to his fans, not forgetting to appreciate them for the support and love they’ve shown over the years.
Johnny also brought out a fan (widow) who according to him, lost her husband a month ago and added that her husband was a big fan of his music and had sent him multiple direct messages via Instagram which he wasn’t able to respond before his demise. He used the opportunity to sing a tribute song which he dedicated to the widow and other fans who lost someone dear to them in recent time.
The peak of the concert was when a crew of Mavin, named Anthony, proposed to his heartthrob at the concert. Johnny introduced them to the audience while he sang ‘Romeo and Juliet.’
There were surprise performances from 10-year-old Temilayo Sax, Ladipoe, Cillsoul, and Broda Shaggi, who all performed alongside Johnny Drille. Other celebrities present were Mavins record label boss, Don Jazzy and label mate, Dr. Sid.
